Ladies Cygnet Golf Program

Cromer’s Cygnet Golf Program is evolving into a new 16-week format for brand new and less experienced golfers to start their golfing journey whilst enjoying our first-class facilities. Cromer Golf Club is a private member and member guest Club. The Club promotes an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for women golfers, ensuring the coaching program provides a female-friendly environment that encourages participation.

Our dedicated two-stage program aims to gradually transition new female golfers, to a playing golfer with confidence to play the course socially or competitively, with an understanding of rules and etiquette. The Cygnet program has proven to be a huge success by introducing many women to golf and membership at Cromer.

Tuition is conducted by Cromer’s Head Professional, Nick Robb and his team of qualified PGA golf professionals. The Club has recently opened a brand new, world class short game practice facility where classes will be conducted.

Stage 1 - Introduction to golf

  • 16-week program.
  • Commences February and July then breaks midway for 2 weeks for school holidays.
  • The hour-long coaching sessions are held Tuesday mornings as a rule. If fully subscribed Thursday may be offered.
  • Maximum of 6 women per group.
  • All equipment required during coaching sessions is supplied and included in the cost.
  • Enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee after each session in the lounge or terrace overlooking the course to debrief and enjoy the magical surroundings.
  • Cost $750.

Designed to allow new golfers develop their golf swing and build confidence with their game, with a focus on swing and short game techniques.

Items that will be covered in Stage 1

Introduction to basic golf terminology • Explanation of the different types of golf clubs • Understanding golf course etiquette • Explanation of the scoring system • Grip and Stance • Creating a sound grip • Proper grip adjustments for different shots • The importance of efficient posture • Putting • Understanding how to read a green • The four elements of putting • Developing your putting stroke • Drills for improving your putting game • Chipping and Pitching • Overview of chipping and pitching • Importance of club selection • Developing sound chipping and pitching techniques • Drills for developing chipping and pitching skills • Full Swing • Overview of the full golf swing • Understanding the difference between irons and woods • Developing swing techniques • Drills for developing a better consistent swing.

Following each Cygnet session, participants enjoy tea or coffee in the Cromer Clubhouse overlooking the course to debrief and enjoy the magical surroundings. Cygnets are often welcomed by various members and volunteers who provide additional support and assist answering any questions or queries participants may have.

Stage 2 – Intermediate to advanced instruction 

  • 16-week program.
  • Commences February and July then breaks midway for 2 weeks for school holidays.
  • The hour-long coaching sessions are held Tuesday afternoons.
  • Several scheduled 4 hole mini competitions after class under the helpful supervision of the Club’s Cygnet mentors.
  • Several Rule and etiquette sessions are scheduled after classes.
  • End of term 9 hole fun golf event followed by sit down lunch and prizes.
  • Maximum of 6 women per group.
  • All equipment required for coaching sessions is supplied and included in the cost.
  • Cost $1250.

Represents a major step in development and enjoyment of the game. This stage now provides you the opportunity to move onto the golf course and put the various skills you have previously learned into practice. On course play enables you to become familiar with other important elements of golf including etiquette, rules knowledge, player safety and scoring. Includes access to play in several supervised 4 hole competition after sessions when course is available.

Pathway to membership 

The Club extends a special invitation for membership to Cygnets who graduate the two stages.
