Cromer’s Junior Golf Academy

Cromer Golf Club’s Junior Golf Academy is one of the most comprehensive structured golf programs in Sydney. The Academy provides professional tuition and on-course golf (after assessment) each weekend, covering all aspects of the game, including rules and etiquette. Boys and girls aged 11–14 years are eligible to participate.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

• Inspire young players to learn and love golf.
• Teach skills while keeping the game fun and enjoyable.
• Grow and develop Cromer’s junior membership.
• Encourage cadets to play and practice becoming tomorrow’s champions.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Junior Golf Academy is structured to allow participants to progress through stages, building skills and understanding golf etiquette at each level. Academy cadets attend weekly tuition clinics and on-course sessions, all delivered by our team of PGA-qualified golf professionals.

In addition to skill coaching, participants receive guidance on etiquette, dress, rules of golf, and fun skills activities. Regular feedback on progress is provided, with a continued emphasis on enjoyment of the game.

Stage 1 (Beginners)

Duration: 10 weeks, one-hour weekly sessions with PGA Professionals.
Focus: Grip, stance, full swing fundamentals, tee shots, putting, chipping, pitching, and bunker play.
On-Course Play: After the week 5 assessment, participants play a four-hole game under supervision.

Stage 2 (Intermediate)

Duration: 10 weeks, one-hour weekly sessions with PGA Professionals.
Focus: Building on Stage 1 skills including putting, chipping, pitching, and bunker play. Additional instruction on etiquette and rules of golf.
On-Course Play: A four-hole competition follows the tuition sessions.

Stage 1 & 2 Junior Academy Enrolment / Registration

The Academy runs over two semesters, aligned with school terms where possible.

Term 1: 31st January to 4th April
Term 2: 2nd May to 4th July
Term 3: 25th July to 26th September
Term 4: 17th October to 19th December

Class Times
Stage 2: Saturdays 2:00–3:00 pm
Stage 1: Saturdays 3:00–4:00 pm
Class Size: Maximum of 8 students per session.

Assessment & Skills
All Academy cadets are reviewed after each coaching session and receive an end-of-term assessment. In addition, an end-of-term skills challenge is conducted, followed by a presentation.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

THE PATHWAY

(Graduation from Junior Academy to Cadet Membership)

Upon graduation, our professional team will assess each participant’s skill level and understanding of golf rules and etiquette to determine readiness for Cadet Membership.

Cadet Membership Fee (2026): $620 annually, pro-rata if joining mid-year.

Eligibility: Only available to juniors who have completed Stage 1 and 2 and have been approved to advance by Cromer’s PGA Professional staff.

Please note: Due to the rapid growth and success of our Junior Development Academy and Pathway Program we will be introducing a waitlist for new membership in this category from 15th May 2026.
